Mosaic Weekend Update

Hi everyone!

If you are like me, your inbox is filled with COVID-19 messages…so I apologize for one more. But, I think, as you understand, these are uncharted waters for us all, so please give us grace!

What is happening this weekend?

Mosaic Church will still be gathering in person for all four services. Currently, our local health authorities still tell us the risk of contracting COVID-19 is low, and communities under 2500 are still allowed to gather. And until our local health authorities advise us, or until our elder team decides otherwise, we intend to continue gathering publicly, in case someone asks you.

We will also be streaming live on Facebook Live and on Youtube for all four services!

Please prioritize joining us either in person or online this Sunday. Frankly, your news feed can wait! As much as we read the news and need to stay informed, we also need to have encouragement, life, and truth put in our hearts in difficult moments. These are the times when our faith in our God needs to be encouraged, and we can be reminded that He is good and that we are called to be His hands and feet to one another and to the city.

When we gather, we will be taking a number of wise precautions, including hand sanitizing stations before you walk in (so be ready), of course we are disinfecting hard surfaces every service, and, unfortunately, the coffee bar will be closed this Sunday. Bummer! But you can, and should, still bring your own coffee and tea. Fill up that nice Mosaic tumbler you may have been gifted at some event from the past!

At the bottom of this email are a few things that can help parents of youth and teens to be in the know for their respective areas- just click on those links, as well as watch the video from our elder team.

If anything changes between now and Sunday, we will let you know!

Also, of course, if you or a family member are sick, please don’t come. And if you have to cough or sneeze at all (it is late allergy season, after all) please cover up.

Finally, a brief list of theological thoughts:

a.) We will not be afraid.

Jesus told us not to. Now is the time we practice being Christians, and being people of faith.

b.) We will be wise.

There is, after all, a whole section of Christian scripture called “Wisdom Literature”. Listening to medical professionals is not a sign of weakness.

c.) We will be good neighbors.

For real, be a good neighbor. Visit those in need. Take time to pray for and to check in on those who are especially vulnerable right now, as well as those medical professionals you may know who are likely stressed at the moment.

d.) We will look beyond ourselves.

For new ways to do ministry and to meet the needs of our city. Christianity is not “every man for himself.”

e.) We will hope

As was prayed in our 7am prayer meeting this morning, we do not have a dead hope or a decaying hope or a false hope or an empty hope. We have a living hope that our neighbors may not and the news media may not and that others around us may not. We have a living hope, and that cannot be taken away.

f.) And, we will wash.

Wash our hands, that is. And as you do so, don’t just sing “Happy Birthday”, consider reciting the Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6 as an uplifting and centering spiritual practice.

If, in the future, we need to move to gathering temporarily in an exclusively digital form, we are prepared for that and will let you know.

Mosaic Church and its mission aren’t going anywhere, by the grace of God.

With hope,

Morgan
