With Us Just the Same: Women’s Conference

In November of 2019, the women of Mosaic went away for a two-day retreat, and if you were there, you know it was (as this image shows)… glorious.

We might not have known it then, but we were living through an incredibly sweet season, and God was with us. But by March of 2020, all of our lives had completely changed. Today, I don’t know how many of us would call this a sweet season, and yet God is with us just the same. He has not changed, but our lives have.

Today, while thankfully many things are at least somewhat back open–many kids are back at school, many of us are back in the office, full shelves line the grocery stores–I can still see the weariness and desperation that remain in many lives, in many stories, in many families. And in our weariness, we are searching for the thing to help us and give us the strength to make it through. What could help us in our search?

In Luke 24:49, Jesus tells his disciples, “I’m going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.

Oh, to be clothed in the Holy Spirit’s power from on high! Doesn’t that sound pretty great right about now? That sounds like something that could help us be mighty, strong and commanding; something that could give us incredible strength, almost like something that could help us float up and out of our weariness. That sounds, well, miraculous.

And it is…and yet. And yet this miracle doesn’t necessarily happen how we might expect.

How does this miracle take place? How can we be “clothed” with the power of Jesus’ promise?

The word “clothed” in this verse means “to sink into.” I have to be honest with you here… sinking doesn’t sound like floating to me; it sounds more like surrender. And to surrender doesn’t sound like being strong, yet sinking/surrendering is the “kingdom way” of finding victory in the weariness. It’s His way. Sinking into His strength, surrendering our will and our character to His–this is how the miracle of sustained hope takes place. That’s how we are clothed with power from on High, as we sink/surrender into His loving hands.

God in 2019, the same God that was with us at that retreat– filling us with His goodness and His promise from on high in that sweet season– is the same God we have today. He is the God on the mountain top and the God in the low valleys. He does not change; His strength and power are with us no matter the season. And in each season, there is a new mercy poured out for us to receive His grace in our time of need.

Ladies, I don’t know what season each of you are in, but I know the God who longs for you to be clothed in His power from on high. So, on November 12th and 13th, we are gathering again to make space once again to sink/surrender into His goodness for us, so that we may be strengthened and see the miracles that we so long to see: walls coming down, freedom, souls saved, and justice proclaimed!

We would love for you to join us for this upcoming conference as we will stay and wait upon our God, together.
