29 Apr #winning
Well, it’s been a busy week around Mosaic, as we prep for our annual women’s retreat! We have just under 200 women going, which is really amazing, and first of all, I just want to thank all of you who were able to come for registering, and also thank any spouses or roommates that are making it possible for someone to come.
What’s really encouraging about working behind the scenes of an event like this is being able to see the best part of our church and who we are as a people emerge.
Many of you donated scholarship money to help others in more challenging financial circumstances be able to attend, so thank you for that!
And many of you women are playing “Roommate Roulette” and trusting God to match you up with someone you may have never even met before from a different background or stage of life!
Really, through seeing these things, two trends and two things characteristic about the women of Mosaic emerged:
The women of Mosaic are generous, and the women of Mosaic are courageous.
I know those two things I mentioned may seem small, but the point (I think!) of both those examples is that, when given the opportunity to respond in those two areas, our women did so.
In our weekly Friday prayer meetings, we constantly pray for God to give us hearts that are able to move beyond ourselves, to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to give us the grace to fold our lives into a community that’s bigger than ourselves and whose diversity can sometimes make us uncomfortable.
To live out that vision takes—you guessed it—generosity and courage.
So, when I see those two things, I know: God is at work in our midst.
And, for what it’s worth, I’m proud of our women and am looking forward to hearing all the great stories and testimonies of good things that God does, as you all gather in faith!
And I hope you men, no matter if you are single or married, are excited about our women growing and connecting—where women are loved and elevated, God is honored and we all win.
