What’s Coming This Sunday

It’s a big week at Mosaic Church.

Consider:

  1. We are beginning a brand new series in the Gospel of Luke which will take us through the fall.

It’s called “Reversal: How Trusting Jesus Turns It All Around.

The reason for the title is two-fold. We’ll be seeing:
a.) how people’s lives really do get turned around by meeting Jesus, and
b.) why Luke’s Gospel, more than the other Gospels, has a real focus on the “upside-down nature” of the Kingdom of God.

To put it bluntly, much of the time, the values of Jesus Christ are so far different from ours, and his teachings on what the spiritual life is supposed to be, call us to fit our values into his and not the other way around.

In short, by calling us to reverse our values and our allegiances, he calls us to reverse our lives.

He really does turn it all around, in more ways than one, and his ultimate Resurrection is the final proof of that.

All that being said, this week is week one, and I would like to encourage you to invite a guest to attend or watch with you. This week’s message is developed with skeptics, deconstructionists and people struggling with faith in mind. It will feel a little different on purpose.

  2. Second, this week we are launching our brand new third service at 12:30 pm.

Please consider attending that new one if it is possible for you. This makes much-needed space for guests and visitors, especially at the 11 am service. It will make a really big difference in the life of our church and the lives of others.

  3. Thirdthis week is Promotion Sunday for our kids.

Every elementary, middle and high school student will be moving up a grade level, which may mean new classes or services for some!

  4. Fourth, this week is the Best.Breakfast.Ever. for our teens beginning at 10 am.

Powerful stories from camp will be shared, parents are welcome to attend, and then students and parents will head over to the main worship center for the inaugural 12:30 pm service.

If you have a teen, this week’s message will be especially helpful and you will want them to hear it. We all, especially our teens, face challenging questions about faith we don’t always know how to answer. Fortunately, Luke 1 is a powerful rejoinder to dishonest questions or fuzzy thinking about what the Bible is, what the Christian faith is, and most important of all, who Jesus was, and is. It will be preparatory for the kind of challenges they will face this coming year when asked to give a reason for their faith.

I know that parents and teens may be understandably ready to go home after breakfast, but I’m appealing to you to stay and find a way to get your teens there; you will be glad you did. Plus,

  5. We are debuting a brand new, original song in worship on Sunday.

Can’t wait! See you all soon.

With love,
Morgan
