What’s Coming Next at Mosaic

Hi everyone! Here’s what’s coming up next at Mosaic:

1. I’m really excited about starting a brand new series this Sunday called
(IN) BREAKING: Jesus and the Longing of Every Human Heart.

We’ll be moving through the Gospel of Matthew, seeing some of the well-known and perhaps not as well-known portions of the life of Jesus, and seeing how His coming, His sacrifice, and His ultimate triumph speak to—and can meet—the deepest longings of the human heart. This Sunday we’ll be starting in one of the most overlooked but deeply impactful parts of the whole book. This would also be a great week to invite a friend to hear the heart of the Gospel message—but, it’s like I’ve said, every Sunday is a great week to bring someone!

2. Sunday, August 28 will be an extra special Sunday (really, all of August will be over the top), as we will be doing our “Back to School” Sunday, with special music, dance and videos, all centered around celebrating our Next Generation ministries. We’ll have special guest SaulPaul with us that day (you can check him out at SaulPaul.com). But here is the thing we really need you to know: we are doing something really, really cool in our community starting that day, and we need your help. We need you (every adult) to bring a new or gently used backpack to Mosaic by AUGUST 21!

We will be doing something special with the backpacks leading up to the 28th—and then on that Sunday, we will be letting you know what you can do with them. Please, please be a part of this—can you imagine hundreds of backpacks changed into seeds to be planted in our community? That’s what we hope to accomplish with them, but we’d like to keep part of this a surprise until that day. So, bring up those backpacks to Mosaic during the week to our offices (located across the parking lot on Jekel Circle) or on one of the next three Sundays!

3. The Men’s retreat is coming up (August 19-20) and spots are filling up fast. We almost have as many registered—with three weeks to go—as we had all of last year. In a word, it’s going to be great—please don’t wait to register! We want you to be a part and to be able to get the accommodations you prefer, but there’s no guarantees if you wait. Our guest speaker will be a friend of mine, Dr. Greg Mitchell, pastor of Every Nation Vancouver (yep, he’s Canadian). Dr. Mitchell is a brilliant pastor, writer and counselor, and his material on overcoming fear is transformative. He will also be joining us on Sunday, August 21, as our guest speaker for both services that day, so women, you’ll get to hear from him as well. You can register for the retreat here.

4. Finally, just to put this on your radar, this fall in the city of Austin (along with Cedar Park and Leander), Mosaic Church will be participating along with many other churches in the Greater Austin Area in something called the “Love Where You Live Service Day”. Our goal is to rally thousands of Christians on Saturday (and Sunday, although we will only chip in on Saturday), October 29, to do various service projects all over the city—at schools, parks, neighborhoods—to show the city that the Church is for it and is a blessing to it. These projects will take place all over the city and will be of varying degrees of difficulty, so at some of them you will be able to bring your children.

Many of them will be very simple, and the goal is 100% participation, so please block your calendar now to be able to help. We will let you know more details as we get closer, but this day is going to be a day for the Church of Jesus to shine and love our neighbor, and neighborhoods. This is new and unprecedented, and to make it a success we need you!

All right, that’s it—for now. This month is going to be fantastic as we move forward together to make a difference in our lives, schools and communities. Thanks for being a part of a church like that.

And…

we’ll be having fun along the way.

See you soon—

Morgan
