| ATX Christmas is something designed to close a specific gap in our culture, right now:
I recently came across a statistic from a trusted Christian resource that mentioned that, for the most part, Christmas is the last remaining place where the Christian faith and the culture around us strongly intersect.
Whether or not you agree with that statement (I do) matters less than what is even more clear and way more important: that the vast majority of people around us are open to attending church around Christmas if invited, and especially on Christmas Eve.
This report mentioned that close to 85% of people they surveyed said they would attend around or on Christmas if invited—but only 2% of Christians planned on inviting someone. The point is, people around us are literally waiting for us to ask them!
ATX Christmas, then, is Mosaic’s effort to help close that gap–to shrink the difference between the 85% who say they would come if invited, and the 2% who actually invite. We have developed some simple tools that can empower you to make a meaningful, personalized invitation this year, and help make Christmas count in a way that it might not have before.
What does it look like?
- A small invite card with a URL (www.ATXChristmas.com) and QR code, with a candy cane attached.
- A poster you can put in a public place where possible and permissible, also with the QR code and URL.
- A lovely yard sign with the URL and QR code.
- A social media post (see it and share it on IG) that shows a bit of how Christmas at Mosaic looks and feels, also with the URL.
You can pick up cards and signs this Sunday if you were unable to last Sunday.
All of these take you to our ATX Christmas microsite , featuring a video from me and Pastor Rosalynn, inviting everyone to experience a season of generosity and an evening of hope.
The season of generosity is about connecting those who would desire to participate in what we are doing with Project Christmas.
The evening of hope is an invitation to come to Mosaic Church on Christmas Eve. Our services up north will be at 3, 4:30 and 6 pm, and our south campus service will be at 4:30 pm.
We have designed that evening’s service with both our Mosaic family and guests in mind:
- Christmas music
- Candlelight moment
- A message of hope
- An invitation to come back in 2023
- Cocoa and cookies in the lobby
- A small gift for every child
PLUS, you can opt-in (go ahead and do it!) to “12 Days of Hope”: 12 short devotional thoughts that my wife, Carrie, and I have written, based on the Luke 2 birth narrative.
I hope this all inspires and equips you to make Christmas count in a unique way this year!
It’s easy to say “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.” Let’s make that true in every way, together, and extend loving hospitality to those around us this year.
Hopefully,
Morgan
P.S. On Saturday, December 17, we need a number of people to help us work as we continue to make facility renovations at Mosaic South. Sign up here. |
