| If you are new to this email this week, welcome! We are so glad you are here. This weekly email is a great place to hear vision about Mosaic, encouraging and sometimes challenging teaching, and find great information about upcoming events and opportunities.
So…about Sunday! What a day.
I have a list of “thank yous” too long to list here for all that happened, but I’ll try for two:
1.) Thank you to all who invited someone, a friend or family member. We had, overall, a record Easter attendance, between North, South and online: right at 2,500 people. You really made a big difference! Pastor Alvin had around 50 present in Fort Worth as well.
2.) Thank you to our staff team and all our volunteer team members. So many of you went above and beyond, and it showed. Despite some of our facility challenges, together we made the day a really special one for lots of people to be loved, inspired, and to hear about the joy of the resurrection of Jesus.
Again, THANK YOU.
So, what’s next?
Coming this Sunday is a brand new, lengthy series on the book of Matthew, called “The Gospel of the Kingdom.”
Why this title? The title reflects our insistence that Jesus’ Kingdom, as He himself taught, is not of this world. While His Kingdom influences and transforms people and structures, fundamentally, it does not belong to an individual or ideology. His is the kingdom and the power and the glory, as he taught us to remember in prayer.
Why this book? Of all the Gospels, Matthew is the one I have studied in depth the most, through my educational background. It has been called “The Gospel of the Church”; that is, it is the gospel that speaks most to Christians and has the most to offer in terms of shaping how churches feel and minister. I’m excited to try to open some of that up.
As we approach (another) contentious election cycle, I (and all those who will also preach through the book) hope to bring to bear excellent scholarship into what is taught, and out of that, create relevant application for our church and for your life.
I’m excited to begin a long journey with you, out of the Gospel of the church, for our church, for such a time as this.
Blessings,
Morgan
P.S. Don’t forget our new service times that begin this weekend at Mosaic North: 8:30 am, 10 am and 11:30 am. The high school student service will meet during the 10 am, and the service for the middle school students will be during the 11:30 am, both over in our Student Center. |
