25 Feb Updates, Happenings and Stuff You’ll Want to Know About
Hi everyone! Thanks so much to all of you who were able to join us on our prayer call this morning at 7 am to hear from Mike Watkins, former missionary to Ukraine with Every Nation Churches. He did an outstanding job of unpacking the geopolitical tensions at play, giving us real-time updates from his friends there, and giving us prayer points for the Every Nation churches there in western Ukraine that are affected by the unrest.
Mike is someone that our church supports financially, and is preparing to plant a church in Prague this summer. I am so grateful to be a part of a praying and generous people.
Here are a few important things to know that are coming up at Mosaic Church:
- This Sunday, February 27, we are excited to have, for both services, a special guest and long-time friend of this church, Pastor Jim Laffoon from Nashville, Tennessee. Jim is an excellent counselor, pastor, Bible teacher and has a strong 1 Corinthians 12-14 prophetic gift, for which he is recognized throughout the larger body of Christ. He and his wife, Cathy, have been married for more than 40 years, he’s a father and grandfather alike, and he’s the author of several books. Jim visits annually, perhaps as much for the Texas barbecue as for anything else. For this we embrace him and forgive him the sin of being a New York Yankees fan😉. You won’t want to miss his unique ministry style and ability to speak a specialized word of encouragement to our local church.
- One thing I am increasingly convinced of is the need for ongoing adult Christian education, and our umbrella for that at Mosaic is called, simply, GROW. I’m encouraged to tell you we have 62 students taking our current, just-started, nearly two-year Leadership 215 course. Wow! We also have an excellent Bible survey course coming up called “Colossians: An Appeal for Christian Maturity“, as well as something called “The Marriage Course”. And, we have a brand new course on mental health coming up in April, which you can keep an eye out for those details. We are called to “Love the Lord our God” with all our “mind”, and GROW is one way we can do that. Knowing “capital T Truth” keeps us from embracing error, falsehood, misinformation and non-truths.
- Finally, our next Real Talk for all our singles is coming up on Saturday, March 26. We will be continuing on with our theme of Friendship and looking at how to make authentic connections that last, from the Apostle Paul’s famous prayer for his friends in Ephesians 1. We love singles at Mosaic and want you to come to this fun brunch! Clear your calendar, invite your friends, and we will see you there. Registration will open soon!
That’s it!See you soon,Morgan
