This Weekend at Mosaic

Hi there!

I hope that you are having a fantastic Christmas season this year, allowing the power of the Incarnation of the Son of God to fill your heart with joy and move it toward compassion toward those in need.

There are a number of really great things in store for us this weekend, but before I get to those, first of all, let me say thank you to all of those who have participated in Project Christmas this year. All our shoeboxes for Live Oak Elementary students have been sponsored (please bring those back this weekend!), our Casa Vallado goal has been met and the gifts have been delivered to the children there (more on that on Sunday), so our main need is still cash donations for at-risk moms with Breath of Life. I know cash gifts aren’t as fun sometimes as doing a shoebox, but we want to support Breath of Life in the way they feel they need support—and this is it! You can stop by the big Project Christmas display in the lobby and find out more (as well as get a great Christmas pic taken with your crew). Thanks to Jennifer Majors and her great team for all their work with this!

Alright, for this weekend, here are some highlights to look for:

1. Deacon Confirmations:

As we have mentioned over the past few weeks, we are confirming a new and larger group of deacons to serve our growing body and ministry needs at Mosaic. There are 12 candidates whom we brought to your attention in mid-November, and here, again, are their names, in alphabetical order:

Gerald Bowie
Nathan Brown
Jaime Chapman
Sheila Chopin
Poncho Hernandez
Ryea Jones
Scott Lafferty
David Makovy
Tina Miranda
E.J. Patterson
Wyatt Sullivan
Barnabas Willis

Per our bylaws, and as we mentioned both on stage and in the subsequent email, Mosaic members have a 30-day window to bring any issue to the attention of the elder team that would possibly prevent any of these from serving in this capacity. That window comes to a close tomorrow at noon. You can direct your concerns regarding these candidates, if any, to elders@mosaicchurchaustin.com.

Really, I am so excited about welcoming in these new additions to serve alongside our current deacon team, many of which will be continuing on for another year. It is quite a commitment, and definitely one that requires your prayers and support over the coming committed year of service. We’ll be praying for and confirming them at both services this Sunday morning.

2. Mosaic Christmas Party!

Coming up this Sunday night from 5-7 pm is our annual church-wide Christmas party, with a special performance from our kids (parents, please have them there no later than 4:30!), lots of videos, a special look back at the year, and some great Christmas music—new and familiar—from our amazing worship team! And…that’s all before we even get to the Chili Potluck/Cook-off afterward. You’ll have the opportunity to do some taste testing and vote on your favorites—it’s a great time and you should totally be there! We could use a few more contestants (there’s a nice prize, people!), and even if you have zero desire to be in the contest, we could also use some more folks just “cooking it up” to share with their church family. You can register here.

That’s it! Looking forward to the weekend with you!
