17 Jun The Kids are Alright

As we were finishing our third service last Sunday, I was struck by the overwhelming goodness of God towards our church, and was filled with a love for you and for us.

I wanted to run up on stage and grab the mic away from whomever was speaking or singing and start raving about how great God is and how amazing of a church community you are, and we are together.

I had some guests visit from out of town last week, and they got to meet a number of people here, and hear their stories, and were blown away by the quality of people at Mosaic and the heart for the city and the world that so many of you have and demonstrate in tangible ways. They were touched by seeing the different kinds of people here and hearing about the different kinds of ministries we labor to provide. Their kids had a blast in mKids—so much so that their kids are asking to move to Austin now! I said, well, them and everyone else apparently!

No church, as we talked about, is without its shortcomings and flaws, because every church is made up of people, with shortcomings and flaws. That being said, sometimes it’s nice to hear from an outsider some kind words and a fresh perspective. It’s kind of like, for those of you with kids, if (and when) a stranger makes some positive comment about your children’s behavior. You think at first, “What, my kids? You have no idea what they were like 15 minutes ago!”, but then you realize, yeah, they are right. Our family is all right, after all.

And we are.

All that to say, I am grateful to God for His amazing grace that holds us and keeps us and changes us and makes us into something he fashions to redeem the world.

I pray today you feel His love and His presence in a fresh way.
