11 Aug Special Guest this Weekend at Mosaic Church
I wanted to let you know of some exciting and special ministry happening this weekend at Mosaic Church!
This weekend, we will be having Pastor Jim Critcher from Grace Covenant Church, a large and multiethnic church in Chantilly, Viriginia (Washington, D.C. area).
Jim is not only the Executive Pastor there, but functions as a senior prophetic voice within the Every Nation family of churches, of which Grace Covenant is a part. We will be having Jim in for three special environments:
1. We will be having a special Encounter service this coming Saturday night, from 6-8 pm, with extra time given to the ministry of the Holy Spirit through Jim’s prophetic gift.
If you are unfamiliar with this type of ministry, you are in for a real treat and an incredibly encouraging night. Growing up in the church I did, I had no context for how God could speak and move in people’s lives through this type of spiritual gift, but I came face to face with it one night as a college student– where God used someone like Jim to speak things to me only a supernatural God could know, and I was born again in the midst of the moment. God used prophetic ministry to change my life forever!
1 Corinthinans 14 describes the prophetic ministry like this:
But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church...
...if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, 'God is really among you!'
And this was my testimony! I came into a meeting, a man prophesied over me, and I fell down and wept at being loved and known by God, though I did not deserve it.
And of course, this is not Old Testament prophecy, with a capital “P”, but rather the New Testament form of it, which is something you have likely done many times whenever you encourage a friend or pray for them, if you’ve ever said something to the effect of, “God just put this on my heart for you”, or, “I just really feel this strongly for you right now”. That’s in the vein of New Testament prophecy, with a lower case “p”. Jim Critcher is just a person who has spent years training to share things God puts on his heart for others.
Let me encourage you to come to this on Saturday evening. We will have our worship team there, Jim will share his heart for our church in a short teaching, and then we will spend quite a bit of time praying for individuals. Again, I can’t tell you how encouraging and honestly, faith-building it is to be in this type of environment. Childcare is provided. Please register for childcare here to let us know how many children to expect.
2. Jim will be preaching this coming Sunday at both services. He is an excellent communicator with a singular wit and a keen eye for what God is doing in current events.
3. He will be teaching at the final GROW class of the summer, which is open to the entire church, from 6-8 pm on Sunday evening, on “How to Hear the Voice of God”. Jim is fantastic at coaching people and equipping them to hear God’s voice and to be a voice of encouragement for others. If you’ve ever wondered, “How do people do that? I’d like to learn more…”, then this is the time for you to get going on developing this area in your life. How many of us really desire to obey 1 Corinthians 14:1 :
“Eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy”?
I hope we would all say yes to that, and to that end we will provide this equipping class. Jim is also a master classical guitarist, but unfortunately we won’t be having a classical guitar training this weekend (maybe next time!).
That’s it! Can’t wait to see you Saturday night and then Sunday morning!
