01 Dec Searching for Christmas

We are beginning a new series for the month of December called “Searching for Christmas”, because I think it’s fairly obvious to all, no matter if you are an insider to American culture—and especially if you are an outsider—that people in our culture are searching for something at Christmas.
Minimally, people are at least searching for that special gift for that special someone, or they are searching for the perfect Christmas tree, or they are searching for just that one time when their family doesn’t drive them crazy at the holidays!
Or, maybe, at Christmas, we’re all searching for something a bit deeper?
No matter who you are or where you are at Christmas, I think we are all searching for something, and what the Bible has to say about that search is this:
that underneath all the lights and the presents and the songs and the shopping, people are really searching for something so big, it can’t fit in a box or under a tree or in a driveway.
What are we searching for at Christmas? Of all people, some Bible writers called the minor prophets—called minor not because they aren’t important but because they just wrote less than some other prophets did—these minor prophets have something to say about what we are really searching for at Christmas, and that’s what we are going to be looking at this month.
I’m excited about being able to communicate timeless truths that I hope are compelling and fresh, and that while a lot of this will be aimed at new people, I believe that we will all learn something new as we move through the series.
Also, this week, don’t forget there is our monthly third service hangout happening over in Elevate!
And, our Volunteer Appreciation Night is coming up this Saturday—the registration is closed, but if you registered, I’m excited about seeing you there, enjoying a great night, and celebrating you that evening!
Blessings, and welcome to the Christmas season,
Morgan
P.S. I am happy to report that we are at almost 75% of our goal for the facilities ask we did at the beginning of the month! Thanks to so many of you who have given, and if you have not, please consider making your gift now to let us know what we have to move forward with. I know there may be some of you waiting till the last minute (kind of like you do with your Christmas shopping!), and this is the last minute (mostly)! I’m hoping to get all the way there by the end of this weekend—as always, we will keep you in the loop.
