14 Jan Right Now
Hi everyone,
As we move into the final stretch of our week of prayer and fasting, I want to say, first of all, how grateful I am for this week and for all of you who have participated in some way in this. Prayer and fasting, as consistently practiced spiritual disciplines, are transformative–and certainly more than appropriate right now.
A couple of ways to hop in right now (because it’s not too late) are to simply go to the home page of our website, and click on the “Awesome God” banner (that’s the name of our teaching series this month as well as the focus of the fast). Scroll down to, and download, the prayer and fasting guide (if you haven’t already). There are daily devotionals in there that will help focus your mind and heart on the character and nature of God, and they’re really good.
Second, let me encourage you to watch our live Evening of Worship service this Friday night at 7 pm. It’s a slightly different kind of service, one focused on worship, with moments of prayer, exhortation, and testimonies woven in. It will last roughly an hour, and not only is it the perfect way (at least I think so!) to end a fast, but it’s also a necessary way. If you’ve been wondering, as a Christian person, what can I do right now to help the state of the world, calling upon the God who made heaven and earth to move and to bring spiritual renewal is the first move we should make as people who seek to “Rebuild the wall”, like Nehemiah.
Finally, like you, I have been saddened and shocked by the events in our nation over the past week. This Sunday, our elder team will be joining me for a special message in which we bring our perspective as to our current moment, reaffirm the work we are called to do, and remind us of what it will take to be the people of God right now.
I hope you’ll be with us online for what I believe will be both an encouraging and challenging message.
Our staff is diligently praying for you this week, for God’s presence, for a sense of His nearness in your life, and above all, for you to know that no matter what you are going through, that you are loved.
I’ll see you Friday night at 7 pm!
Morgan
