Project Christmas is Back!

While the holidays may look a little (or a lot) different this year for many of us, one thing that will remain the same (and yet will look…a little different) is Project Christmas.

Project Christmas is our annual opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of a lot of people in need. Traditionally we have created space for the people of Mosaic to provide Christmas gifts for the children of Casa Vallado in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, fill shoeboxes with Christmas gifts for at-risk children at Live Oak Elementary School, and to give donations (both physical and financial) for Mosaic Street Ministry. We’re doing those three, again, as always, but this year we are adding a fourth: our healthcare heroes here in Austin.

In the past, all the opportunity began here in our facility, but we are doing Project Christmas a little differently this year for a few reasons:

  1. Covid-19 and physical distancing, obviously.
  2. It’s more important than ever to remember that whether you’re able to gather in person with us on a Sunday, or you are watching from another location, we are one church, and so…
  3. All giving will be through one place, which will be online only.

So, again, whether you are in person or watching online, whether you’re able to be with others on-site or staying at home, not only are we glad you’re with us, but we are excited to be doing Project Christmas together this year. You’ll be hearing more about it this Sunday, AND you can go to mosaicchurchaustin.com/projectchristmas to find out more.

Finally, and briefly, I wanted to take a moment to let you know we are monitoring the rise of COVID-19 across the country, and locally as well, of course. As of now, hospitalizations remain lower than in other parts of the country and state, and our local healthcare system is in good shape overall, and so our plan is to remain open on Sundays as long as we can.

Should those numbers change dramatically, we might be forced to go online only for (hopefully) a short time in order to help stabilize our local situation.

In the meantime, if you are here on Sunday, please remember to continue wearing your mask at all times, and to continue to practice good hygiene. These small things are a big help, and everyone has been amazing so far.

That being said…let’s make Project Christmas happen! I’m excited to see what happens. Click above to learn more!
