02 Jul Practically Spiritual
This week I am really excited to kick off a brand new series for the month of July: something called “Practically Spiritual”.
Why are we doing this?
It’s because nothing could be more practical than “spiritual” things.
Most of us, being good pragmatic Americans, can tend to lump things we think are “practical” on one side, and things we think are “spiritual” on the other, and it can become rare that the two meet.
Fortunately, the Bible expresses no such divide, but rather calls us to live lives of deep, Christ-centered spirituality that expresses itself in visible and practical ways.
Concepts like vision, prayer, faith, and breakthrough may seem “spiritual”, but in reality, when we take even a superficial look at God’s people in the Bible, these were things they committed themselves to and regularly experienced—and changed the world around them.
I’m believing for this to be a series and month full of strong encouragement and inspiration to pursue Jesus more, experience Him more, and, as Paul put it, “to press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus has taken hold of me.”
This Sunday I’ll be asking (and trying to answer) the question,
“What does it look like to be a person of vision?” That is, what does it look like in everyday life for a Christian to be a person of large and captivating vision?—specifically in the context of the Christian faith and the local church.
Then, we’ll be giving you some simple tools to help you reflect on that question and help you walk out the answers starting that day.
I can’t wait to begin—let’s be practically spiritual people together.
See you then,
Morgan
