19 Jul Pitching in Against Poverty at Christian Resource Center
Dear Mosaic Family,
If you are reading this email, you likely live in the greater Austin area. If you don’t, get here quick, because it’s pretty great. However, Austin still has problems, but we can all pitch in to help.
An issue that is getting increasingly worse in our city is poverty — financial poverty and spiritual poverty. Over 12% of the people in the greater Austin area live below the poverty line. In a different, yet equally astonishing statistic, over 50% of people in the greater Austin area claim to be atheist. These are daunting statistics. But, what if I told you we could potentially help alleviate both of these poverties in one stop?
I know it sounds too good to be true, but it is! With our new partnership with the Christian Resource Center (CRC), alleviating the burden of financial and spiritual poverty in our city is even closer. The mission of CRC is to connect people to Jesus through meeting their physical and spiritual needs, and we are thrilled to be working alongside them in this important endeavor.
CRC operates on the campus of Twin Lakes Fellowship in Cedar Park, TX and is currently the only resource center of its kind in Cedar Park/Leander/greater north Austin area. Together with twelve other churches in the greater Austin area Mosaic supports the work of CRC to meet the daily spiritual and financial needs of those in our community. The member ministries and referral partners work together to restore hope for families in our community and surrounding areas while providing:
- Job readiness, GED, English Second Language (ESL), and life skills education
- Food, diapers and clothing
- Mentoring and counseling
- Job search skills
- Infant and youth services
- Trades training
- Transitional housing for women
- Pregnancy services
Last year alone, CRC impacted the lives of over 88,000 individuals, with 318 known individuals choosing to follow Jesus.
As a partner organization, CRC is inviting our church community to join them in a special service day project. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a church family and make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. By volunteering our time and energy, we can be a part of the transformative work that CRC is doing in our community.
