12 Apr Out There/In Here
One of the extremes Mosaic resists is the pull to either be a church that only exists to “do mission” out there (that is, to the rest of the world), or to “do mission” in here (that is, in our city).
Acts 1:8 clearly aims us at doing both, so that’s our aim as well…let me give one example of each coming up.
OUT THERE:
This weekend, we have a special guest you’ll briefly be hearing from at all our services. His name is Matt Rasch, pastor of Every Nation Marseille in Marseille, France. Matt was my college roommate, and he and Carrie (my wife) and I all came to faith as college athletes at the University of Houston.
We have been close friends for many years, and Mosaic is proud to support his ministry in Marseille, now coming up on its tenth anniversary! Matt is one of many missionaries around the world we partner with, and he will share a bit about the amazing things happening in the South of France, followed by a luncheon at 1 pm in our Mosaic North Overflow Room, where you are welcome to come back and hear more from him and how to get involved in what he is doing. Matt is a legitimate evangelist and has many stories of supernatural conversions and healings among French and Muslim people.
IN HERE:
How can we live out one of the most compelling verses in the New Testament, Titus 2:10, which instructs us “to make the teaching of God our Savior attractive”?
We’ve gotten together an Emmy winner/TV producer, a pro basketball player turned college professor, and an Austin FC coach to help us talk about it.
Our next Real Talk event for any and all singles at Mosaic, will take place on April 26 from 7-9 pm. We will hear from Jejuan Guillory, Dr. Carlos Daniel, and Terry Boss, all of whom have had meaningful experiences in walking out their faith in challenging environments: Hollywood, the college campus, and professional sports. These men are all part of Mosaic and are looking forward to speaking to how young professionals and singles can live out Titus 2:10 in a compelling way. So come for the dinner provided (cost is only $10), listen and learn from some compelling people on how to speak in a relevant way to current culture, and stay for the conversation and connection with other like-minded singles from the Mosaic community.
You can register here.
Both in Austin and around the world, I’m glad to make a Christ-centered impact along with you.
I’ll see you this weekend as we move into week 2 of our journey through the Gospel of Matthew (Matt 1:18-25 if you’d like to read ahead!).
