| One of my favorite Sundays is just around the corner, because it’s more than just a Sunday…it’s a statement.
Our NXT GEN (Next Generation for those who don’t speak in text message shorthand!) Sunday is an annual celebration of our multigenerational community, with a focus on what God is doing in the lives of students. It’s coming up on August 31, and if you’ve never been before, you should know it’s a major highlight of the year!
We will have special music, a dance (at our North campus), students of all ages participating in the service, and a vision cast for why the image of “the shuffle button” is perhaps the best descriptor of why there’s value in doing ministry in a multigenerational context.
You are also encouraged to represent by wearing your school colors, logo, gear, etc. (Please no foam fingers or hats!).
And, we could use your help a little! Because multigenerational ministry requires a learning posture towards both preceding and following generations, we would love to get some real-time data from you.
Here are three questions that will help shape our time and make for a fun moment:
- What generation would you say you are from (Silent, Boomer, Gen X, Millennial, Gen Z)?
- What was one of your favorite band/singer/musical artist from when you were in middle/high school or college?
- What was one of your favorite songs from middle/high school or college?
I know it’s tough, so just pick one and go for it…just click here to give us your answer for this short survey.
We’ll showcase the results that Sunday…Family Feud Style.
I am thankful for my early Christian education, having a youth group in the church in which I grew up, and most of all, for campus ministry, which changed my life and set me on the path I’m on now!
And, I’m thankful for all of you at Mosaic who live out the vision of Psalm 145:4: “One generation commends your works to another.”
May that be true of us as well, as we look not just to worship on a Sunday, but make a statement about who we are as a people.
