Mosaic Staff Update (in case you missed it!)

For those of you who may have missed it when we announced it two weeks ago, allow me to update you on an exciting development at Mosaic Church!

I’ll start in the past, and then work my way forward:

About a year and a half ago, one of our deacons, Alvin Brown, came on staff with the church as our part-time Executive Pastor. Alvin’s focus has been on our Membership Process, Events, and Sunday mornings. As the church has continued to grow and he has continued to do such a great job, the position has grown into a full-time one.

We approached him about taking this full-time position earlier in the summer, but after prayerfully considering it, he declined, feeling like God still had so much for him in the corporate world (Alvin is pretty brilliant in a number of fields). That being said, he will still continue on our Pastoral team in a reduced role, focusing primarily on supporting our Sunday morning teams and will also help with our Membership Process where he can. Alvin, we appreciate you and Mallory and your continued enthusiasm and sacrifice for Jesus and His people!

So, with Alvin’s transition, that obviously opened the door for us to find the person we felt God was identifying for this new role, and after, again, much prayerful consideration, Barnabas Willis, a long-standing member of Mosaic, agreed to come on staff with the church as its Executive Pastor.

Barnabas came to Christ as a college student through our outreach to UT back in 2001. After graduating, he worked for a number of years as a campus missionary, until he transitioned out of ministry in 2010. After working in the corporate world for a number of years and earning his MBA (and getting married to his wife, Yolanda, and having a baby girl!), Barnabas sensed a career change was coming his way, but was unsure of the timing and what God had next. As it turned out, it was a return to working inside the church!

Barnabas will be primarily focused on our “people movement”—how people get involved at Mosaic from the time they hit the parking lot to their first steps in ministry and service and beyond. He will also be working to strengthen our service teams and ministry areas, so don’t be surprised if he asks you to get involved somewhere when you next see him!

Please pray for both Alvin and Barnabas—they are both incredible men with incredible families and have big jobs to do!

Thanks again for your prayers for them and for our men as we head off to our annual men’s retreat this weekend—we have a record number of men attending, and completely (over)sold the event.

We will see you Sunday as we continue our series in the life of David (you can read through 1 Samuel 16 if you’d like to get a sneak peak of what’s coming next!).

That’s it! See you Sunday, if not before!

Morgan
