Mid-Year Well Check

As a parent of four, for years we have, like many of you, conducted the annual, or semi-annual “well check”, depending on the age and overall of each child. The idea is just to assess how a person’s overall health is, to see how “the body” is doing.

With that metaphor in mind, I wanted to do two things:

1.) Ask, simply, how are you at the mid-year mark? How is your heart towards God and towards others around you?

If you feel like you’ve gotten off-track, now may be a time to course-correct through early morning or late night reflection, with extra space for God to speak and encourage or during time with a trusted friend, mentor or pastor to speak into your life.

My heart, like the apostle John wrote, is for you to “prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2).

2.) Offer a little version of our own “well check” at Mosaic. How have we been doing this year?

Here’s a really encouraging list, courtesy of our communications director, Elan Patterson, of some Mosaic Church highlights through the first six months of 2022:

  • Members, congratulations! We are recognizing 42+ new members in July and have already recognized 46 year-to-date.
  • We’ve had a large number of baby and child dedications and baptisms this year.
  • Original Mosaic music was written and released.
  • Mosaic Street Ministry (MSM) recently partnered with The Other One’s Foundation and has showers available six days a week in addition to Mosaic’s Sunday offerings and other partner’s services on Wednesdays.
  • KIDCON: We saw 46 lives dedicated to Christ + decisions for baptisms; there were 75 volunteers and 140 attendees at this large, weekend event!
  • TAKE TO GIVE: Scholarships for students to attend the Every Nation Youth Camp raised roughly 120% of our goal. We awarded 40 full and partial camp scholarships to the more than 80 students who are going from Mosaic.
  • Mosaic Communities launched! We have more than 30 groups on mission here at the church and all over the city.
  • Marriages were positively impacted at the Marriage Retreat in February, and we had another 50 couples go through the six-week Alpha Marriage Course.
  • Celebrate Recovery is thriving and seeing new people regularly.
  • Day at the Park had literally multiple hundreds of people come off-site for a great day and a win for our community.
  • Women’s Conference brought out 200+ ladies where we had spontaneous baptisms and a great weekend together.
  • Men’s Night gathered 150+ men, fathers and sons for great fun and a devotional message.
  • Every Nation’s Ten Day Mission Trip was hosted here in Austin serving college students and homeless friends.
  • Every Nation Campus Conference in Jacksonville, FL hosted about 10 college students from Mosaic’s ENC ministry.
  • GROW: Mental Health 101 & Colossians: An Appeal for Christian Maturity are classes we have had; Leadership 215, a roughly two-year program, is rolling along with more than 50 enrolled.
  • ABIDE Fast back in January was a highlight week to start the year.

None of this would be possible without so much prayer, faith, courage and faithfulness from you.

So, on behalf of our staff team, let me say how grateful and amazed we are for you, the people of Mosaic. Your generosity and love are showing so many in this city that God loves us, and that the city is better when the church of Jesus is there.

Blessings to you, and may you continue to prosper this year in all the ways God has for you.

I’m glad to be on the journey with you.
