Making A Mosaic Series + Church Updates

Hi everyone! Please allow me to give you a couple of really encouraging updates on ways Mosaic and its people have served our city and community before I give you a sneak peek for what’s coming next:

Flood Relief

In the midst of all the suffering and tragedy, I’m so thankful for the way in which many of us have responded. We have raised more than $25,000 for flood relief, both to give to ADRN and directly to victims of the floods who have lost everything. We have had several teams go out over many weekends, and shout outs go to all of you who have given up time, energy, and weekends to clean and serve. Our next team goes out tomorrow, August 9, to the Sandy Creek area, led by Matt and Christa Effland. You can join in the morning by signing up here.

Also, thanks to Pastor Rosalynn Smith, Mosaic has been able to play a central, organizing role in much of what has happened. This past week at our facility, we hosted a city-wide meeting, helping to cast vision for what comes next in relief work for churches and faith leaders.

Serving Schools

Mosaic was able to serve a catered IHOP breakfast to the teachers at Live Oak Elementary this past Wednesday. I’m thankful for Tranise Pleasant, our Mosaic mentor coordinator, who is helping us make a big difference. We are all represented well, and we let teachers and schools know that the church of Jesus is present and cares about them.
Making a Mosaic (New Series):

As you may have heard, Mosaic is approaching its 30th anniversary this fall. While statistics on church plants are sometimes all over the place, a consistent data point that seems to be true is this: the vast majority of churches do not make it past their third year. That is to say, the average church that begins closes down between years three and four. The point being, the fact that we are here, that God has “made a Mosaic,” is a miracle!

How does God shape a people that can shake the city and the world around them? That’s what we will be looking at for the next three weeks out of the book of Exodus, starting this week in chapter 1. Along the way, you will notice a number of fun upgrades and “refreshes” we are doing to our facility and our online presence. Those will be rolled out over the month and even later on into the fall.
I’m excited for the month and to be with you.
