Thailand Missionaries – Global Child Advocates
The work of Global Child Advocates began in response to children on the streets. Stateless children begging in the market late into the night. Boys digging through the trash for recyclables to sell. When they learned some children were beaten if they did not bring home enough money, they responded by establishing a Safe House.
Over the years, more children were referred to GCA, which led to the opening of three more children’s homes. These homes were always meant to be a short-term solution but foster care and adoption were unheard of. Children who did not have a safe family member had no where else to go. While they knew that children needed families, that just didn’t seem possible for these kids.
In 2011, GCA discovered ways to recruit and train families in partnership with the local church. After a lot of preparation, they partnered with the Thai government to place their first child in a forever family. Now 96% of those children are growing up in a family of their own!
