07 Nov Live Big Update and Deacon Nominations

Wow! What an exciting morning we had last Sunday, and really, what an exciting month we have here at Mosaic Church in November.

If you missed it, we had our annual “Live Big” Sunday last week, where we asked everyone to consider giving $39.95 per adult to the Settlement Home for Children, just down the road from us here in Austin.

Our goal was to surprise them and show up with a check for at least $20,000. Did we hit our goal? How much did we raise all together?

Well, you’ll have to come this Sunday to find out! I know, I know, that was kind of a bait-and-switch, but trust me, it will be way more fun to find out as a group!

Also happening this Sunday morning is something really exciting that you will definitely want to witness, and that is our upcoming deacon nominations.

Our deacons are the primary servants and executors of our overall ministry plan in a number of areas, and whose qualifications are laid out primarily in 1 Timothy 3. They are nominated by our current elder and deacon team, and then interviewed and “vetted” by our elder team.

We will be presenting this new group as deacon candidates this Sunday, and per our bylaws, church members will have a 30 day window to bring forward anything that would give them pause about a candidate’s eligibility.

As our church continues to grow, our need for more deacons has as well, and so this week we will be nominating a large group of new ones!

We will be showing you their names and photos, and should they all make it through to the other side of the 30 day window, we will confirm them on Sunday, December 13.

This is a really exciting and healthy process for the church to go through and to witness, and I’m looking forward to kicking that off this Sunday with you, along with the big reveal from our total raised last week.
