Join Us Tomorrow In Praying For Ukraine

Hi everyone!

I’m sure you have been watching the news, as I have, with horror at the invasion of Ukraine.

All kinds of concerns come to mind, both present and future, but still, we are told by our God, in every situation, to not be afraid. In accordance with his Word, then, we will fear not.

To help lean into that truth, I would like to invite you to a special time of prayer tomorrow morning at 7 am CST.

Our special guests on the call will be Mike and Myra Watkins, former missionaries to Ukraine, Poland, and future church planters in Prague (they are moving there this June) with our global Every Nation family.

Mike and Myra are amazing people and friends of mine, and after living in Eastern Europe for many years, they know intimately the geopolitical tensions that affect both the people there and the church of Jesus. Mike, Myra and I went to seminary together, and no one combines a heart for Christ as well as a cultivated, missional, internationally formed intellect quite like the two of them.

Every Nation has seven churches in Ukraine, all in the western half, and already there is a looming humanitarian crisis that Mike will speak to and then direct us on how best to pray and give towards the situation.

If you would like to hear from a missionary insider, get a real-time update on the situation, hear how this is affecting the church of Jesus, and lean into praying for those affected, please join us on Zoom tomorrow morning (Friday) from 7 – 8 am. This, as you know, is our weekly church prayer call, a prayer meeting that has been happening weekly for more than a decade.

Finally, let me say this: we have an amazing church, full of all kinds of people, including both Russians and Ukranians, who are both devastated by what is happening. While we can condemn the invasion of one sovereign nation by another, any hostility or anger directed towards any person from any background is unacceptable. These moments are ones where we would do well to remember the First Family we are from, the family of God, bought by the blood of Jesus. Surely the world is watching to see how Christians from different backgrounds treat one another in the midst of crisis, and I am confident we will lead the way.

With hope,

Pastor Morgan Stephens
