Follow up from Sunday’s Financial Ask

If you missed it on Sunday, I’m sure you heard about it: Our elder team presented a $150,00 ask to church, which would go for three things:

a.) a new youth facility over in Building C
b.) adjustments to our mKids space to create more classroom space and access to back restrooms
c.) sport court for youth

Why are we doing this?

Again, if you missed it, you can and should listen to the podcast from this past Sunday, as all the details were there, in the context of this church’s past and present.

But, to answer the question, we are doing this, quite simply, because we are growing and need the space. Over the last few years, as you saw on the slide on Sunday, we have grown from 1 to 3 services and our weekend attendance has gone from the 200s to just under 1200.

Building a new youth space (which will create a win for everyone, in the same way that creating Elevate, our current youth room a number of years ago, did for everyone. We have had all kinds of events in there—prayer meetings, fundraisers, singles events, worship nights, leadership trainings, membership classes, and more) will immediately allow our children to occupy Elevate, instantly creating a new, high-tech classroom at zero cost! So, just building this new room will, in effect, get us two rooms for the price of one! We are constructing it in our other building due to the significantly lowered cost for that space compared to our main building, in that we already have the HVAC units in place.

Another portion of the ask, as I mentioned, was for our mKids space. We would like to add another classroom, and reconfigure the space to add another check-in desk, so as to both decrease the check-in line, create additional security, all while opening up access to the back restrooms for the rest of the church. The front restrooms are frequently crowded, and to build more restrooms on the main side would mean knocking out the kitchen and doing extensive and extraordinarily expensive plumbing work.

Finally, we would like to install a sport court on our property for our kids and youth to utilize. This helps us in all kinds of ways I trust are obvious to you—creating community and outreach opportunities are just two.

Because we already have the land, the walls, the HVAC unit, and a zero-cost contractor, we are able to do all of this for only $150,000. Or, as someone in our third service said out loud on Sunday, “That’s it?” That’s it!

It’s like someone else said last Friday morning at our prayer meeting: “It’s like getting a youth facility on sale!” I couldn’t agree more.

This cost averages out to about $200 per person or $400 per household, but of course some of us will only be able to give less—but many of us can give quite a bit more. It’s going to take several larger gifts to make this happen, but I trust we will be able to do so quickly.

As a matter of fact, we would like to have all monies in hand by the end of November, in order to both avoid doing this during the Christmas season and to get going ASAP.

So, if you haven’t already, would you consider giving generously towards this? You can do so here, or on the App—just select “Building” from the dropdown menu.

And, if you weren’t there on Sunday, would you also consider listening to the podcast? It’s far less of a sermon, although there is some Bible content and leadership teaching in there—it’s far more of a story, the story of this church. I believe it will encourage you and inspire you as to God’s goodness and faithfulness to us all.

Thanks again! I hope you are excited about being a part of this and creating space for future young people and future leaders, and doing for someone else what someone else has already done for you!

This is an amazing church, we serve an amazing God, and I’m excited to see what will happen this month!

With hope,

Morgan
