Faith Restored

Sometime last year, I remember receiving a call from my wife, Yolanda, letting me know that she had a flat tire. It turns out it was a result of a nail that had gone unnoticed.

We of course got the tire repaired, but shortly after the incident, I began to think about how this relates to my relationship with Jesus. The lack of air in my wife’s tire prevented her from moving forward to her destination.

In her situation, this small difficult-to-notice thing (the nail) was the root cause to her dilemma. As a result, she needed intervention in order to get back on course.

There have been moments in my life where I’ve found myself stranded on the side of the road in regards to my faith. Not really knowing exactly what happened; only realizing that for some reason I can’t move.

Perhaps that’s you today. Maybe there is a slow leak in your faith, and you didn’t even realize it. With each bump in the road, you find yourself becoming one mile closer to being immobilized and off course.

As I think back to that day, I’m reminded of the security we have in God. In Yolanda’s time of need, she simply called out for help and waited.

Isaiah 40:30-31 says this:

“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

I believe that when the “nails of life” pierce us, God comes to seal the punctures in our souls. He wants to inflate our faith in such a way that we can move into what He has called us to do. We just have to call out to Him and wait.

I hope that encourages you.

I’ll see you this Sunday as we continue in our “Practically Spiritual” series, and as we look at The Life of Prayer!
