15 Jul Every Nation Youth Camp 2017 | What a week!
We’re back!
Camp is always one of the most fulfilling (and exhausting) experiences of the summer for our middle and high school students. This year fifty of us traveled to Lueders, TX (pop. 334) alongside 250 other students and leaders from throughout the Texas region for Every Nation Youth Camp 2017! Our theme for this year was Awakening, based on Ephesians 5:14, “For the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, ‘Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.'”
We had an amazing time of relational and spiritual growth through competitions, small groups and incredible nightly worship and teaching times. And if you’ve yet to have the opportunity to participate in summer camp, stay tuned, we’re going to let you in on a few highlights from our week at Every Nation Youth Camp 2017!
Monday – EXPECT
Highlight: The veteran camper amongst us, Mrs. Odena “Mimi” Jones checking in with each and every student and leader, about what they were expecting God to do at camp. We appreciate Mimi and her heart for our students to know more of Jesus.
“I’m hoping to meet God for the first time at camp!” – Middle school student
(That hope was met immediately! Monday evening over 100 students responded to an altar call and either committed or recommitted their lives to Christ.)
Tuesday – AUTHENTIC
Highlight: Pastor Ernie Krueger shared in our afternoon session about the power of the Holy Spirit and how He empowers us to live in and bring victory, not only for ourselves but for others too.
“Refined + Reused” – Pastor Ernie Krueger
Wednesday – RADICAL
Highlight: Student after student standing before our fifty-person group and boldly sharing what the Holy Spirit spoke to them. Some shared of giving their lives to Christ, others about wanting to impact their families and friends for Christ.
“God will you put someone in my life this week that needs to know Jesus?!” – Pastor Landon Pickering (prayer challenge to all campers)
Thursday – MOMENT
Highlight: 17 students baptized (and most baptized by someone baptizing for the first time)
“Can you hold me under for 3 seconds? One for the Father, one for the Son and one for the Holy Spirit!” – High school student
Friday – MOVEMENT
Highlight: Four of our middle and high school students gathered around two elderly ladies in a Subway sandwich shop sharing with them that they’d just returned from camp, and using it as an opportunity to share their faith. And I don’t know if they realized it at the time, but the radical prayer our students prayed on Wednesday night, “God will you put someone in my life this week that needs to know Jesus”, was being answered.
“It was all about Jesus and how we can live our lives for Him.” – High school student
On the ride home, students sharing stories from the week, laughing together, encouraging one another, and praying with each other are highlights I hope they’ll hold for the rest of their lives.
