| In times of crisis, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. In fact, it’s one of the most natural responses we can have. Often, though, when we go into flight, fight, or freeze, it is because we are out there alone. But Scripture—and life—remind us that we’re never alone.
The book of Colossians offers deep encouragement for moments like these. Paul, writing from a prison cell, speaks of a truth that can’t be taken away:
“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:17)
Christ holds the world—and us—together, even when everything feels like it’s falling apart.
We’ve seen that truth come to life in recent weeks through the faithful and compassionate response of our community to the devastating floods in Texas. While homes were damaged and lives disrupted, hearts were moved to action:
- Volunteers came together to clean up and rebuild.
- Financial gifts, clothes, and supplies were donated without hesitation.
- Prayers are being lifted, hands are extended, and love is shared—across neighborhoods, churches, and communities.
This is what Colossians teaches us: that we are one body, called to “bear with one another,” to forgive, to serve, and to live in the peace and compassion of Christ (Colossians 3:12–15).
In your giving, your serving, your praying—you’ve lived that out. You’ve shown that when Christ is the center, community becomes a refuge.
If you’re feeling weary, know that you’re not forgotten. If you’re looking for hope, look to the One who holds all things together—and to the people He’s placed around you to help carry the load.
Let’s keep standing together, just as Colossians encourages us: rooted in love, united in Christ, and overflowing with gratitude.
With hope,
