11 Aug Divine Strength Through the Practice of Retreat
In a culture that places high value on constant action, productivity, and unceasing forward momentum, the concept of retreating might be perceived as an indication of weakness.
However, at Mosaic Church, we recognize the immense significance of retreats. They are pathways to seek renewal.
As the apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:16, even when external circumstances present challenges, our inner selves are perpetually renewed. This principle forms the cornerstone of our upcoming retreats, where we will partake in the practice of retreat and see how stepping away from our usual routines can lead to profound personal and spiritual growth.
Dear Women of Mosaic,
I want to extend a personal invitation to each of you for our upcoming Women’s Retreat. I am quite aware that carving out time, relinquishing responsibilities, and orchestrating arrangements to ensure work and home life continue seamlessly while we step away can be a demanding endeavor. Let’s just say it: it takes work to get away from work. It may even feel like a formidable task.
However, is it worth it? Absolutely.
Allow me to present four compelling reasons why I think registering for this year’s retreat holds immeasurable value:
- Reflection and Connection with the Divine
We intentionally provide moments for spiritual practices such as prayer, worship, and the study of His Word. Purposefully engaging in these practices during a dedicated time set apart to commune with God creates an environment for profound renewal. This connection with the Divine is our strength as He offers guidance, comfort, and a renewed sense of purpose. - Rejuvenation and Rest
Removing ourselves from the daily grind allows both our minds and bodies to rest. The reprieve experienced during a retreat can contribute to heightened mental clarity, reduced stress levels, and greater emotional resilience. This retreat is being planned to equip us and empower us to be strengthened so that we may confront life’s challenges with newfound energy and hope. - Recreation and Reframing
Activities such as crate climbing, zip-lining, and ax throwing are just a few of the thrilling options available at this year’s retreat. These activities not only promise to be exhilarating, but they also can help us conquer fears and perceive ourselves and our circumstances from fresh vantage points. Alternatively, if lounging by the pool with a good book is calling your name, any way we choose to step away from the familiar environment can still inspire novel solutions for life’s circumstances. - Relationship Building
Our retreats are centered around relationship building! Of course, first and foremost is our relationship with our God, but also our relationship and connections to each other are built. The sense of community and shared experiences foster a supportive environment where we can share our stories, get to know others, and get to be known by others. Living in community, being a part of a community, is life-giving and is a source of strength that the Lord has for us.
This time away with God and each other will be worth it. Register here and set aside September 21-23 to experience renewal by embracing the divine strength that the Lord has in store for us all.
Ready to retreat with you,
Cori Sullivan
