December Snapshot

I hope you are having a great week—I am so encouraged by all that’s going on here at Mosaic this month! Just a snapshot:

We have had all 60 shoebox ornaments on our Project Christmas Giving Tree committed to for Live Oak Elementary. All these boxes go to at-risk children who may not have a Christmas otherwise, so thank you!

We had more than $3000 come in for gifts for our children in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Pastor Brett and a small team from Mosaic are there this week, purchasing the gifts there in SLP and making Christmas happen for the kids of Casa Vallado. I know it would be more fun to make the shoeboxes ourselves, but the money you gave allows us to invest in their local economy and do missions better. It really does make a big statement to the local people when we show up there and buy gifts and supplies in their context, so thank you!

We have an opportunity to really do some good for our friends in the homeless community this weekend. You may know that we love the homeless community, especially those here in our neighborhood. The city of Austin estimates there are more than 2100 homeless people in Austin, and we are blessed to be able to serve a number of them and welcome them into our church. We are really in need of 2 things: socks and cash! So go by their table this Sunday in the lobby, or go pull an ornament off the tree there and make a difference for those right in our back yard. We have seen some incredible stories of lives changed, people getting sober, getting jobs, getting off the streets and even coming to faith in Christ over the last few years. We don’t do it for the results, we do it because it’s the right thing to do, but the results are encouraging, too, so thank you!

Last weekend we had more than 130 volunteers come to be trained on a cold, wet Saturday. These are people who have said, God use me somehow to bless others! The next night, we had more than 70 people in our Membership Class. So, thank you to all who came to both those meetings!

This weekend will also be an impactful one, I trust. I’ll be continuing on with a quick look at the Promise of Christmas in the book of Isaiah, which will be our series during the month of December.

And then…Sunday night…is one of my favorite nights of the whole year:

it’s our annual Mosaic Christmas Party and Chili cook-off! If you are even thinking about coming, you should totally just decide and come, just for the sake of hearing our band do what I think will be our most amazing Christmas concert yet. We’ve got a live creative arts presentation on the “Tru Meaning” of Christmas, which will include the kids’ singing. And please, please consider making and bringing chili—WE NEED IT! There are a lot of mouths to feed and we could use your help! Even if you don’t want to compete, that’s fine (but you’ll miss out on some killer prizes!), but just make it and offer it to your friends. Please register your chili here so we can plan on feeding you and your family and friends. 🙂

That’s it! Much love to you and I’ll see you soon….

Morgan

P.S. If you missed Sunday and our exciting announcement about our intention to formally join the worldwide family of Every Nation Churches in January, you can click here to read through some FAQs about it!
