| I hope you will be thrilled to hear that this coming Sunday, June 8, 2025, will be a special and unique one.
Along with the global body of Christ, and even more specifically, along with our global spiritual family called Every Nation Churches, Mosaic will be celebrating Pentecost Sunday.
Historically recognized as the moment when the Holy Spirit was sent to the church, and traditionally known as the moment when the first church began, Pentecost takes place 50 days after Passover/Easter.
While we have celebrated it in the past, this year will mark something brand new for us: an annual focus on what Pentecost is and means.
A few items of note:
1.) Please be on time, in your seat and not late for the Call to Worship.
You won’t want to miss the mini-parade of nations as we hear God’s word read in many different languages.
2.) We will have a special, one-off teaching about what being a “Pentecostal People” sounds like.
3.) We will have a special look at, and vision cast for, a new church-planting initiative from Every Nation called Mission 2029. We will be praying for the nations together and trusting God to use Mosaic to be a part of something significant.
4.) We are encouraging anyone and everyone to wear clothing native to their culture, tribe, or people group! Especially if you are from a different nation or culture, feel free to dress how you might “back home,” or at a special event in that culture.
5.) We will be having a Kona Ice Truck in the parking lot at Mosaic North after third service, and at Mosaic South, we will offer a sweet treat to those who may want one after service, just to facilitate a celebratory moment.
Most of all, my hope is twofold: to honor the Holy Spirit as the third person of our triune God, and to continue to aim our hearts at meaningful missional expression.
Why?
You could go so far as to say (and I will!), that in the same way that the church of Jesus is supposed to be a cruciform people (shaped by the cross), and a Resurrection people, (shaped by the empty tomb), we are also supposed to be a Pentecostal people, shaped by the sending of the Holy Spirit.
I can’t wait to celebrate with you!
