City Serve This Saturday!

This is the week! All of our planning, fundraising, and dreaming have led to this weekend, as we join with thousands of Christians from across Austin to make a difference and Love Where We Live. If you haven’t heard, we are partnering with many churches in carrying out hundreds of small-scale service projects, mostly concentrated around parks and schools, to bless our city and show the Greater Austin area that the people of God are for it and want to make it a great place for all people to live.

To sign up for a project, here’s what you need to do:

1. Visit www.lovewhereyouliveatx.com
2. Select the area of town you would like to serve in.
3. Determine which project you would like to serve on and click on the “Sign Up >>” link.
4. After ensuring that is the project you would like to choose, click on the “Sign Up!” button or the “Register” button (depending on the project) and the Love Where You Live Team will be in communication with you from that point on.

Each project will take around 2-4 hours and most will involve some low level of manual labor like mulching, pulling weeds or trimming trees. What a great opportunity to serve alongside one another, connect with our neighbors and show the people of Greater Austin that we, the Body of Christ, really do love where we live.

I have received word that there are a few projects in particular that need some focused attention, and they are:

1) Sunday (October 30) – Bagdad Elementary [Need 70 to fill]
2) Saturday (October 29) – Emma Long park [Need 90 to fill]
3) Saturday (October 29) – Walnut Creek Park [Need 90 to fill]

If you are able to participate in one of those, that would be especially helpful, and if you can sign up for one of these by 5 pm today, that would be even better. Regardless, please sign up ASAP if you haven’t, so that the leaders of each project can know what to expect and help make your experience great.

See you then! I’m looking forward to making a small bit of history on Saturday with you all!
