Better Than Your Fall Favorites

It is like the joy you experience when you purchase your first pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks for the season…or when your favorite football team defeats the number one team in the nation…but it is better than those! It is better even than that fresh car smell when you drive your new, unbelievably negotiated-priced ride off the lot.

It is where you’ll experience the smell of the cider that’s warming your hands in your cup, along with your favorite greeter offering you a savory snack to complement the sweet. It is where cutest little “pumpkins” are carried on their parent’s hip, and the kid you thought you knew is now temporarily unidentifiable by his next-nevel homemade costume. It is where sounds of competition, laughter, excitement, and conversation all float in the air.

It is good.

It is Mosaic’s Fall Festival, and it is better than your other fall favorites because…we can be together for an eternally-significant purpose!

One of my favorite scriptures instructs us to “consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as ye see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-26 KJV)

Actually, quite a few scriptures throughout the New Testament give the same instruction, and each time, my heart is glad to hear it.

The Fall Festival is an opportunity for us to consider one another, invite all others and enjoy and celebrate the company of many in our church family and the surrounding community in the name of Jesus Christ.

Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that His “purpose is to give [us] a rich and satisfying life,” but “the thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.” (New Living Translation)

What richness and satisfaction does Jesus want for you and me? Part of that we can find together, and that is encouraging.

Everyone is welcome, and we do need our church body to help us make it good for everyone. Bring your family and friends, and consider signing up for a shift or two as a “fun-maker” on our volunteer team!

Cheers to our Fall Festival; it is going to be good!
