04 Jun Answer to All the Questions
I have a 16-year-old son. Out of my three kids, my 16-year-old is my most inquisitive. He was the typical “Why?” kid growing up.
“Why is the sky blue? Why do dogs stick out their tongues all the time? Why do cars need gasoline? Why are there no more dinosaurs? Why am I ticklish? Why are stoplights red, yellow, and green? Why are those wires there? Why does my baby brother cry all the time? Why do I have to go to school? Why do we need to go right now? Why did that person say that to you? Why do you love me?”
So. Many. Why. Questions.
Yet at the heart of all the why’s, were foundational how and who questions. Today he is still trying to understand how the world works, who he is and how he fits. As a young man who has decided to follow Christ, he is searching for an understanding of the world and self; who his God is; how God sees the world; and how the world responds to Him. As he has grown taller, his why questions have only grown more complex.
“Why does the Bible not talk about the dinosaurs? Why couldn’t Moses go into the promised land? Why does sin seem subjective? Why does the Bible have different translations which can lead us to different conclusions? Why do some Christians act that way?”
Great questions, right?! I don’t have all the answers for him, but I do know who to lead him to and where he can search and find knowledge and understanding and receive peace in all the unknown places.
God has given us a gift within the scriptures. A gift that’s better than all the answers we crave, the Bible is filled with His love and hope for each of us and all of humanity.
When we spend time studying God’s Word, we spend time with Him. We come to understand who He is and, therefore, who we are and how to traverse through this very complex world loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others.
God has breathed life into all Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right.
– 2 Timothy 3:16
The Word of God is living and active, and it has supernatural power to change us and the world in which we live.
Knowing all the answers isn’t the end goal; becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ is, and we can discover the who and why behind our faith as we walk in relationship with Him through the power of His Word.
We invite the women to do just that starting next week at the Mosaic Women’s Summer Bible Study. If you are a woman with questions, we have a place for you. We are carving out time to seek God and ask Him the head and heart questions that arise as we study His Word. We will seek and find what is true of Him as the anointed King, beautiful Savior, and Servant of the Lord. And, therefore, we will find answers to what is true of us and the world.
Find out more information and register. We’d love for you to join us as we walk through this life together as a community of God.
This is also happening through our college ministry, Every Nation Campus (ENC). Through the summer, ENC will be hosting six Zoom meetings for college-aged young adults to explore questions of life and faith through studying the Biblically-founded book, Before You Lose Your Faith.
Find out more about this study and register. We’d love for you to participate in exploring the core facts of Christianity and your faith through these meetings.
Like my inquisitive son, we all have questions. As you seek answers, may you find a deeper relationship with The Answer.
Be blessed,
Cori
