All the Stuff

Hi everyone! What’s going on around Mosaic? Take a look:

1. First of all, our big community group field day is tomorrow from 10 am to 2 pm at Katherine Fleischer Park in North Austin. It’s going to be a great time with lots of food and fun. No matter how new you are to Mosaic, we’d love to have you there to meet new people, make new friends, and just have fun together! We’ll have a Kona Ice truck, bounce houses for the little ones, and lots more. See here for more info. And in case it rains, check our church Facebook page for updates.

2. Second, we’ve got something a little new and really cool coming up: Our “Noche de Intercambio” is coming up a week from today, March 31st in Elevate from 7-8:30 pm. This is a great chance to practice your Spanish (if you are an English speaker) or your English (if you are a Spanish speaker) and connect our English and Spanish speakers to one another in a meaningful way. We’ll take turns conversing around particular subjects in both languages in smaller groups. Dinner and childcare are provided if you register here.

3. Third, we want to make you aware of a special Good Friday service coming up on Friday, April 14. This will be a kid-friendly, service, in the sense that we are encouraging our kids to come, and will have them in mind in terms of time and service structure. We will be focusing on the narrative of the crucifixion that evening, and we are trusting for all our hearts to be touched by what we sing and hear and share with one another that night. Childcare is available for 0 through Pre-K.

Finally, I want to encourage you to press in with me in the Gospel of Matthew, as we focus on the last week of the life of Jesus over the next month. The last few chapters are so rich in terms of helping us think theologically/practically. Good theology is always practical, and good “practice”, that is, how we live and what we do, must be theologically rooted.

I’ll be doing my best to do what Paul’s aim was in his ministry, to “preach Christ”—He is the reason for the church, for our lives, and for the universe’s existence, Colossians 1 says!

Right Christian thinking shows us that Jesus came, yes, to save us from the world, but it also tells us we are saved for the world—to make a difference and impact it now with our lives.

I hope the next few weeks can show us how that can happen.

Much love to you,

Morgan
