A Message for the Ladies (Fellas, read, too!)

Every time I read the Bible in my one-on-one time with God, He prompts me to ask myself, “Do I really believe this? Does my life look like I believe this?” For a long time I wouldn’t stop and ask these questions. I’d look and listen for truth to tuck away into my brain, to more or less corroborate what I already knew about God. But if I don’t really probe my heart and ask whether it’s taking that step of belief (belief is a choice, after all), then I might be missing the fruit from living a life on purpose for God.

One particular morning, as I was reading in Romans, this short command had me take serious pause: “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12

I had to ask, “Where is my hope? Do I trust God and His timing? Does he know my voice among the rest?” If I’m honest, sometimes I place my hope in the created, rather than the Creator. Sometimes, I wait rather impatiently through my afflictions and am more faithful to lament them than lay them at His feet. But other times, as my heart trusts His goodness and I’m faithful to bring my troubles to Him, He is faithful to draw near with comfort and the peace that passes understanding.

Do you test your own heart? What do you really believe? Does your life reflect it?

At Mosaic, we want to be a people that believes in the Gospel so deeply that we can’t help but live it. We want others to see our lives and wonder how we love each other so well, despite our humanity, how we’re able to speak life into dead situations, and have hope in hopeless circumstances.

I am humbled and honored to be a part of a church that knows what it believes and endeavors to live it daily through worship, community and mission. Worship, as we glorify him with our talents, our time, and our treasure. Community, as we do this together, caring for one another, and spurring each other on toward love and good deeds. And mission, as we share His love and good news in our city and across the globe.

If you’re a woman at Mosaic and you’re wondering where you fit in, or would like to celebrate being a part of this unique body of believers, we have a wonderful weekend planned for you called “Around the Table.” On the evening of November 4th we are going to gather in our homes, around our tables, and explore how we live worship, community and mission in our families, jobs, neighborhoods, and communities. On the following Saturday morning, November 5th, we will all gather together to consider how we live worship, community and mission as a sisterhood, locked arm-in-arm, running this race together. Would you please join us?

You can find all of the important information about Around the Table on the website here. Please register for both a table near you to join on Friday November 4th, and our gathering at the church on Saturday morning, November 5th. We truly cannot wait to share this time connecting with you.

With much love,
Quinn
