A Choice

During the first 19 years of my existence, the image of true manhood was distorted by an emotionally absent father, what I viewed to be a very distant God and the lack of godly male presence in my life. It wasn’t until having an encounter with Christ during my sophomore year in college and being grafted into a community of men who love Jesus, that I began to see what King David meant when he said, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” – Psalm 133:1

I would love to tell you that this happened overnight and with little effort, but that would not be true. Walking in unity means being vulnerable and taking risks. It means being present, engaged and purposeful. To sum it up in one word; unity is a choice.

So to my Mosaic Men, I want to ask you to choose to take advantage of every opportunity to walk in unity with other men here at Mosaic. I honestly can’t think of a better time to step out on faith than by registering for this year’s men’s retreat from August 18th-19th at T Bar M (if you haven’t already). Not just because there will be fun activities like floating the river, sports tournaments, and powerful messages from Pastor Donnell Jones (one of my favorite speakers). And not simply because T Bar M is one of the nicest retreat facilities in a 75-mile radius.

My hope is that you will come to experience God’s presence! My prayer is that you will see God’s pleasure and goodness as we draw near to Him together.

To my Mosaic Women, I urge you to encourage your brothers in Christ to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with other men and more importantly to meet with Jesus. Colluding….I mean joining forces with other sisters to even cover part of a male friend’s registration is acceptable behavior (wink, wink). This includes all of the wives…I ask that you do everything in your power to help support your husbands in being part of this significant weekend. Signing him up without his consent is also considered acceptable behavior (oops, did I just type that?…too late now). Just say, “Pastor Barnabas told me to do it!” 😉

Below you will find the registration link, which has all the details for the retreat. Looking forward to seeing all the men there!
