5 Things You Need to Know About Christmas at Mosaic

Welcome to Advent, the season of the year we turn our attention and focus to remembering the Advent–that is, the arrival of–Jesus of Nazareth into the world at Christmas. Here are five things you need to know about how we are remembering and celebrating:

  1. Our service this Sunday, December 3rd will be a little different; please do not be late. To open the Advent season, we will be taking a special and prolonged communion near the opening of our service. Our staff has worked really hard to make this memorable and different. If you are late, you will miss it or be confused. Please, please, please be early. Can I say please again? Please. 🙂 For our online audience, please have your communion elements ready!
  2. Each Sunday in December will have a special service element, so if you are inviting friends, each week is a great one to invite them to attend!
  3. ATX Christmas is a unique campaign designed to help you make Christmas count and nudge us towards being invitational at this time of year. Almost everyone will come if you invite them, especially to a service during the Christmas season. So, grab that yard sign in the lobby at Mosaic North or South, and turn your home into an invitation. Check out ATXChristmas.com for info (and to sign up for Advent devotionals starting in two weeks!). And invite a friend!
  4. Mosaic South will be hosting its first-ever Chili Cook-off and Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long on Sunday, December 10, at 5 pm. You can register to enter your chili in the contest, or just bring some and/or some cornbread.
  5. Project Christmas is the way we unleash a wave of generosity into our community. I’m thrilled to announce we have had all the shoeboxes claimed to be filled, but the school contacted us to add a few more (hurry, those won’t last long if you wanted that opportunity). Also, we only need around $1,000 in financial giving to be able to bless teachers at five different schools across the Austin area. You can learn more at ATXChristmas.com or check out the tree in the lobby at either Mosaic North or South this Sunday.

Perhaps like you, I really love this season of the year because of all the hope it gives and the beauty it brings.

I look forward to sharing it with you.
