24 Jan Why Not Us?

Right around the first of the year, in what was supposed to be a really happy time of the year/calendar/season, Carrie and I got some hard news.

It doesn’t really matter what it was; you have had one of those moments yourself. 

It was something that hit us hard and made us question lots of things; including if this situation would ever change.

But in a moment, a question rose up in me that I hope will rise up in you if you are facing a challenge you never saw coming or have received news that has made you feel the same way:

Why not us?

Why not us? 

As in, why can’t we be the ones who break through? Why can’t we be the ones who believe God, trust Him, and see breakthrough? Why can’t we be the ones He uses for His glory no matter which way this situation turns?

Why not us?

Just asking this question seemed to shake us out of a challenging moment and aim our hearts yet again at the God of the impossible. 

So go on, ask it yourself: 

Why not me? 

Why not us?

Why can’t God come through for us? 

“For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!” (Romans 5:17)

May 2020 be the year of “Why not you?” and “Why not us?”

I’m looking forward to continuing our look this Sunday, along with tens of thousands of other Christians around the world in our global Every Nation spiritual family, at the subject of God’s Amazing Grace.
