19 Apr Mosaic Olympics

This weekend, as you may have heard, is a little thing called “The Mosaic Olympics”.
Far more than just competition, it really is just a way to have a “party in the park” and get together on a weekend to connect people, families, to make new friends and eat together.
It will be from 10 am – 2 pm at Katherine Fleischer Park in North Austin.
Mosaic will be providing the hamburgers and hot dogs, so please bring a yummy side or a dessert to share. The more homemade-r, the better!
We will have lots of activities for the kids (bounce house, Kona Ice Truck, Human-size checkers, basketball, ga-ga ball, etc.) so come and plan to hang out, and bring that blanket and lawn chair for comfortable seating.
With all that in mind, here are eight great tips to make the day great:
1. BE THERE!
Enough said. If you’re there, it will only make our time that much better.
2. PLEASE DO NOT BE SHY
Go ahead and introduce yourself and don’t assume people know who you are!
3. PLEASE DON’T ACT LIKE YOU REMEMBER SOMEONE’S NAME WHEN YOU DON’T
And please forgive me (Morgan) if I stumble with your name. If you are my children, my wife, an elder, on staff here, or are in my community group, odds are good (though not at 100%) I will remember. If I don’t remember your name, or someone doesn’t remember yours, please be gracious with me (and with others). Mosaic has grown quite a bit over the years, so there are lots of new faces to go with lots of old ones. We’re here to get to know one another better!
4. If you are pale, wear sunscreen.
Otherwise, you’ll look like a tomato in worship the next day, and no one wants to be that guy.
5. Don’t injure your opponent in the games if you are competing.
Or injure your own child. Or your own teammate. Or, anyone else’s teammate, for that matter.
6. Bring something you would want to eat.
Knock-off Oreos or generic soda don’t count as acceptable offerings for your Christian neighbor. In other words, “Do unto others”! And all God’s people said…AMEN.
7. If you kidnap Pastor Brett, and hold him hostage from his team for a couple of hours at a local Starbucks asking him questions about the Bible in order to increase your team’s chance of winning, the judges will totally look the other way.
8. Most of all, have fun!
It’s all about being together and having fun, so we will see you there.
However, the weather forecast is currently showing a high chance of severe thunderstorms which may cause us to postpone the games for a few weeks. We are carefully monitoring the situation and will make a final decision early Saturday morning to let you know if the event is still on, or if we are going to have to reschedule. We will be sending out the notification via email, the Mosaic App, Facebook and Instagram.
