Niger Missionary – Scott & Lucia Eberle

Scott is from Fort Worth, TX and received his Bachelors in French and Math from Rice University, his Masters in Math from Columbia University, his PhD in Math Education from the University of Texas in Austin, and his seminary degree from Columbia Biblical Seminary. He moved to Niger in 1992 to serve as a missionary with SIM (Serving in Mission). Lucia is from Drama, Greece. She studied Kindergarten and Elementary Education at Université de Montréal and received her seminary degree from the Institut Biblique Européen. She moved to Niger in 1994 where she and Scott met and soon married. They have been on mission in Niger with SIM for the last 26 years.

The Mission

Scott & Lucia serve in education, training teachers and encouraging directors in Christian schools. This is a unique opportunity for outreach since very few of the students in these schools are Christian, and Niger itself is ranked by the U.N. as the least educated country in the world. Therefore teachers need a lot of support for both teaching and reaching out to their students. Lucia also manages the Dorcas widows project in Niger, encouraging Christian widows in a society that often rejects them. Scott and Lucia’s dream is to see churches opening hundreds of quality Christian schools across the country of Niger.

The Need
