Exciting Update

As you may know, over the last few months we have been looking to hire someone for our Pastor of Children’s Ministry position, someone who, ideally, has exceptional leadership skills, has a background in education and child development, and who carries the culture of Mosaic in their heart.

I’m excited to announce, after months of interviews and resumes, that we are hiring Keivon Liburd as our new Pastor of Children’s Ministry (PCM)!

Keivon and his wife Katie (along with their two sons) have been members here for around 5 years. He has been a deacon here for the last two, and has served across the church in a variety of ways, including in children’s ministry and as a community group leader.

He completed his Bachelor’s degree at Oral Roberts University (go Golden Eagles!), and is almost finished with his Master’s in Education. He has previously been a teacher, a coach, and an Athletic Director for a number of schools across Texas, including his most recent position as the freshman head football coach at Weiss High School in Pflugerville.

He has given his notice there and will be joining our staff as of January 1, 2019, and we plan on formally introducing him to the church on Sunday, January 6, 2019.

As always, let me remind us that the days of a “one person show” in mKids are long gone, and that Keivon will have an exceptional team that has been built over the last few months in particular. Our mKids advisory team, made up of some of the literally finest leaders we have in our entire church, are “in it to win it” in children’s ministry, and we would not be here without them, and they are: Tina Miranda, who has been our interim children’s pastor, Melissa Moss (you parents know her as Mimi!), Mallary Brown, E.J. and Elan Patterson, Holly Smith, David and Stacey DeStefano, Quinn Smith and Amanda May!

And we definitely would not be here without the contribution of Vanessa Maleare, our former Children’s Director, who has demonstrated such tremendous character and courage in helping Mosaic set up Keivon for success, so make sure you thank Vanessa for all her help in getting us to this point.

And certainly, we should also take a moment to honor Alyssa Jacobs, who earlier this year came on full-time with Mosaic and continues to do a great job with all our kids and families as the Assistant Children’s Minister.

Finally, let me thank all of our amazing team members in mKids, for their faithful service and love of our children!

Please join me in praying for the Liburds, as they follow Jesus into a new lane, and thank you for all of you who have prayed over the last few months as we have gone on this search.

As always, we have felt God’s grace throughout and are grateful to Him for his providence and superintendence of our church (It is, after all, His!).

Blessings,

Morgan
