Discussion Guide: Making A Mosaic Week 4

PRAYER

Take the first few minutes of your time together to listen to what God is doing in one another’s lives and pray for any specific needs people in your group may have.

Today’s Discussion

This week we conclude our series called Making A Mosaic.  We will be taking a look at not only the story of Mosaic Church, but also the future of Mosaic and what God is calling us to be and do, both in the city of Austin and to the world abroad. What is it going to take for us to get there? And, what is that going to mean for us as a community of people seeking to live lives centered on the Gospel? Let’s dive in and see what goes into making a Mosaic.

Discussion Questions

What does it mean to worship something?

Preguntas en Español

 Qué significa adorar a algo?

Romans 11:36-12:1

“‘For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. ‘I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. ‘”

What kind of things are we tempted to worship in our lives? Why is that?

According to Scripture, who/what are we made to worship?

Why does worshipping created things, rather than Creator God, break our lives?

Preguntas en Español

Romanos 11:36-12:1

Dr. Timothy Keller, Counterfeit Gods

”“An idolatrous attachment can lead you to break any promise, rationalize any indiscretion, or betray any other allegiance, in order to hold on to it. It may drive you to violate all good and proper boundaries. To practice idolatry is to be a slave.”’

In what specific ways has idolatry (the worship of creation) kept you from experiencing God’s best in your life, relationships, finances, physical health, etc.?

How does turning from that idolatry back to the worship of Jesus restore God’s best in your life, relationships, finances, physical health, etc.?

What is it about the Gospel of Jesus Christ that empowers and motivates you to turn from your idolatry back to the true worship of God?

Preguntas en Español

Timothy Keller, Dioses Falsos

Closing Thought

What does it look like when a community of people choose to worship Jesus rightly together?

How might that impact the world?
