10 Oct Deacon Nominees
One of the things that Mosaic is, within its “local church-ness”, is an idea.
It’s the idea that ultimately, Jesus is the head of His church, and He leads it and it belongs to Him, first and foremost. One of our core convictions is that the church does not belong to a person or a group of people, but it is a Holy thing that belongs to Him.
This “idea”, over the years, has filtered down into how we try to feel and function in terms of leadership. We take seriously the Bible’s call to have functioning elders and deacons in our local church, in addition to and alongside our amazing staff.
To underscore this point, this past weekend we nominated 9 new deacons to add to our current team (a complete list of current deacons can be found here). The word “deacon” is simply a word that means “servant”, and that’s what, primarily, our deacons are at Mosaic. They are exemplary servants with a heart to cheer for Mosaic, make much of Jesus and also make His people great. Of course, there are so many people at Mosaic who serve in tremendous and sacrificial ways, and who labor over and over to make Mosaic what it is—these nominees are just some we feel God is calling to join this team at this time.
Our deacons are also, in addition to the Biblical qualifications laid out in 1 Timothy 3, people our elder team looks to in order to carry out many of the ministries of Mosaic.
Per our by-laws, we allow for a 30-day window for the church at large to provide our elder team with any feedback as to why a person should not be considered for this role. If you have any feedback you feel is helpful in regard to the people’s names you are about to see, please send it to:

We think these are amazing people! Would you please pray for them and for the leadership of Mosaic over the next 30 days in particular? We need the help and wisdom of God to lead well and serve His people.
With gratitude,
Morgan
