18 Jan A Message from Music Director Seth Perez
Hello!
We are so excited about everything God is doing in your life and here at Mosaic this year. We’re really trusting that this will be a landmark year in so many ways!
As you may know, I started full-time at the beginning of this month as the Director of Mosaic Music. What you may not know is that this season is something my family and I have had to trust God about for many, many years – well before moving to Austin. Because of God’s grace in you and through being in community with you, we have healed, grown, begun to dream again, and have formed lifelong friendships.
So many people here have played instrumental roles in seeing us to this point. I could spend hours listing them, but I’d like to highlight a few who’ve helped in enormous ways.
Pastor Brett is one of the first people we met. We were connected to his community group and quickly began to find healing through open and encouraging conversations. Brett works tirelessly with men and women to see them restored to a place of health and wholeness. I’m a living testament to his ministry.
Without having any idea of how God would arrange things in His timing, Pastor Nathan and I cried like babies over coffee when we first met. Looking back on that day, I believe it was the power of a divine appointment that we experienced. God’s presence was in our friendship then, and it’s only grown. I’m grateful to Nathan for putting faith in me, affirming the call on my life, and making room for me to be who God called me to be.
Our Elders (Pastor Morgan, John Loyd, and Gaylen Washington) have exhibited nothing but integrity and the power of healthy relationships, both in public and in private, since I’ve been a part of Mosaic. I’m encouraged by the way they lead and that challenges me to grow. I’m very, very thankful to these three men for placing their trust in me and giving me the space to run in my lane.
Moreover, I’m thankful to you for allowing me to partner with you and our leadership team as we labor together in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to our city and beyond.
I spent last week’s fast meditating on and thanking God for this new season, and I’m so excited!
Speaking of the fast, wasn’t it so amazing to start 2019 off with a church-wide prayer and fasting week!? It was an incredible time of refreshing, revelation, and growing together as a body.
The daily prayer gatherings were powerful! The times of prayer and worship on Wednesday and Friday evening were filled with voices of praise and the presence of God. People received breakthroughs, missions and visions were reinvigorated, and Jesus was lifted up in all of it!
In whatever way you participated in the 2019 Week of Prayer and Fasting, our hope for you is that you experienced God’s overwhelming love and that you now have a renewed sense of His heart toward you.
This year we will trust God together for the impossible, we will worship together out of the overflow of His love, and we will begin to create a new sound together that will bless the earth and magnify Jesus.
Much Love,
Seth
