Currently, we provide mentors primarily for Live Oak Elementary School and Deerpark Middle School. Many of the children at these schools find themselves in situations where adult interaction and guidance are rare, if not nonexistent. These boys and girls are simply in need of someone who can listen, provide encouragement, and share life-lessons to help guide them into a successful future. In short, they need positive role models. And, what is required of these role models? A 30-minute conversation.
We’re looking for men and women who are willing to sacrifice 30 minutes a week to mentor students who attend either of the schools mentioned above. We want to get behind these schools, these students, and the teachers because we firmly believe, “there is no life-change without life-exchange.” (Tim Elmore)
Through the Round Rock ISD STARS program, you will receive the training necessary to have a successful mentoring relationship with a student. As a mentor, you will meet with a student on the Live Oak or Deerpark campus for 30 minutes each week for the purposes of providing academic encouragement, helping build confidence, serving as a positive role model, and encouraging your student to consider college and career options. If you would like to sign up to be a mentor please click below and you will receive a phone call and email with instructions on what your next steps will be.
Community groups are where we seek to live out the Gospel in relationship with others within a smaller community context.
