22 Oct Discussion Guide: The Journey Week 7
Take the first few minutes of your time together to listen to what God is doing in one another’s lives and pray for any specific needs people in your group may have.
This week we we continue our new series called The Journey. We are walking through the book of Hebrews and looking at what it is we need in our lives if we want to make it through the ups and downs, the good and the bad, of this journey called life. We will see that if we have Jesus and one another then the journey can also be our greatest adventure.
Would you say the message of the Gospel is simple or difficult to accept?
Why do you think it is simple for some but difficult for others?
“If you love me, keep my commands.”
How does living a life surrendered to Jesus help simplify the Christian life? Yet, how does it also make it more difficult?
If we are truly following Jesus, how should that affect the way we treat one another as a faith community?
How should it affect the way we treat the lonely, the weak, the vulnerable, the oppressed, those not like us in our world?
Does that sound difficult or simple to do?
“Si ustedes Me aman, guardarán Mis mandamientos.”
C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory
“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
How does living life surrendered to Jesus affect the way we view our sexuality, money and/or identity?
Does that make life more difficult or simple? Why?
Why do you think Jesus has a “Way” in which He wants us to live?
How does being part of a Gospel-Centered, grace-filled, loving community help us navigate through these challenges in life?
