Discussion Guide: Practically Spiritual Week 2

Prayer

Take the first 10 minutes of your time together to listen to what God is doing in one another’s lives and pray for any specific needs people in your group may have.

Today we continue our Practically Spiritual series. We will be taking a look at some concepts that may fall in the “spiritual”, and therefore impractical, category in many people’s minds and ask the question how can we make those concepts practical in our daily lives.

Discussion Questions

To what degree do you feel like you’re going through the motions spiritually? What could you do about that, or who could you talk to about that?

Name a time in your life when you felt close to God.

In what ways does your community of faith support those going through hard times?

Do you regularly read and/or meditate on God’s word? If not, what is preventing you from doing so?

What spiritual practices help you to remember the peace and freedom God offers?

What story in the bible rings true for you?

Is there any difficulty you are facing? Stress? Family obligations? Work? Illness?

How is this difficulty affecting your faith?

Have you considered asking the following questions:

What is this experience teaching me?

How can I give God glory in and through this difficulty?

Where am I seeing God work as a result of what I’m going through?

Who needs to be encouraged with the wisdom I am gaining through this difficult season?
